In September of 2002, Amarillo Fellowship began with just three families totaling eleven people. The launch was a culmination of a vision God had placed in the heart of Richie Brown, the founding Pastor, five years earlier.
AF began with a “small group mindset” of ministry and met in the home of Richie and Pam Brown. These small groups, called Connect Groups, are the ministry base of AF.
Simultaneously, they began meeting on Wednesday nights at Wolflin Elementary School for their “Core” (teaching & prayer) Service. In December of the same year, they began meeting on Sunday’s at 10:00am. Easter of 2003 they began their current format of a Prayer Service and a Celebration Service. AF met at the school for nearly two years.
In March of 2004, AF moved to a location at 4th and Western. The church signed a five year lease and began an extensive remodeling process. AF had 4 full time and 3 part time staff. In August 2013, AF purchased our permanent home at 8425 Bell St. Now, Sunday morning attendance is averaging about 600 people with 2 services at 9:30am and 11:15am.
From the beginning of planting the church, Pastor Richie and Pastor Pam have known that prayer is an essential part of God’s plan for Amarillo Fellowship. It is our covering in all services and activities.
At Amarillo Fellowship, we love God... we love people... and frankly can't stop talking about Jesus.
